After Amergin

|

After Amergin
I am the shine of neon on black leather.
I am the life that courses under concrete.
I am the tree against the city sky.
I am the old couple sitting on church steps.
I am the hue and cry.
Children tag and scream around me
my eyes embrace the neighborhood,
my people.
I am the bakery on the corner.
I live in scents of sugar and vanilla.
I am the drunken men outside the bar
(glass smashes on the wall, that too, is me).
I am the song in every poets heart.
The goodness of the fog flows through me,
I am the shaper of the fog.
And all these wanderers, are me.
I am the thinning hair of wisdom.
I am the sheen of silver
on the young man's face.
I am the slash of purple on her mouth,
(lips longing for a taste of life).
I am her longing.
I am the prayers that rise up
from the temple.
I am the dancers in the grove of trees.
Bicycles carve runnels in the street,
carrying my sounds
within their wheels.
I am the woman with her shopping cart
I am the dog that strains against the leash.
I am the cats on backyard fences
(sleeping under laundry in the sun).
I am in the smell of unwashed flesh.
And the brightness of the morning.
I am the sigh of jasmine scaling trellis.
I am the music booming from low cars.
I hum along the telephone wires,
and dream.
The red of bougainvillea lifts my head,
I catch it on my waiting tongue
(and give away the kiss).
I am the juice of passing lovers.
I am incense from the seller.
The music climbing walls from the guitar.
I am the song of all of these.
My shoulders bear the weight
of all these lives.
I am the wind and rain, the covered earth.
I am the watching sky, the eye of God.
I am ancestor, and keeper of the future,
(hear my song).

Continuing On
People, I owe a debt to you.
People, working for the call of freedom.
People, you give my soul a strength.
People, you are my grace.
People, marching down the line.
People, risking body, risking peace of mind.
People, working stooped under the mid-day sun.
People, you are my grace.
chorus:
You are my song, you are my grace,
you are my face of a new day.
Men and women throughout time,
your courage gives the world a meaning
all you faithful, loving ones,
I want to give you thanks.
You are my song, you are my grace,
you are my face of a new day.
People, raising glasses to your fallen ones.
People, pushing baby strollers through the war zone.
People, singing, dancing in community.
People, you are my grace.
People, facing water cannons, loaded guns.
People, making love like the world's just begun.
People, I owe a debt to you.
People, you are my grace.
Chorus:
You are my song, you are my grace...
Hey hey....

Present
We are here
giving lie to your battles.
We are here
bodies ready to cross the line.
We are here
to save ourselves from grieving .
We are here
holding hands and looking in your obscured eyes.
Take off your helmets
remove your guns
Take these handcuffs off of me
Don't you love these holy places
just as much as we?
We are here
to end your testing.
We are here
to help things grow again.
We are here
ancestors lined up behind.
We are here
to stop the slavery of lying and the killing of old trees.
Lay down your shields
Peel off your armor
Take these handcuffs off of me
Don't you cherish sun and water,
just as much as we?
We are here
to ensure freedom.
We are here
to give the poor a voice.
We are here
because we must be.
We are here
the power of love and peace is running through.
Come here and hold me
I will listen
Take these handcuffs off of me
I am conscious you are fearful
just as much as we!
we are here/take off your helmets
We are here/peel off yr armor
We are here/ready to listen
we are here/hold out your hand and cross the line...

The Green
(Chorus)
While you play chess
I will smash the borders.
While you play chess
I'll go flying.
While you play chess
I will smash the borders,
go running into the green
Feet on the grass, dew on my hemline
Wind in my hair, I am flying!
I know my love is under the roses,
I know my life is under the sky!
Out in the wild, blood thrumming through me
arms wide open, to welcome the sun
A run from those spaces enclosed in cold shadow
A deep, green desiring that summons me on!
Love blue with promise, the sky opens to me
Scent of sweet roses infuses the air!
Madness is rooted in the growing of flowers
Order is sundered by beauty's wild push!

Half Light
03:15
|
|||
Half Light
I thought of you as the rain came
Pouring through cold air onto my window.
Snapshots of dark holiness in blankets
Tossing in uneasy sleep.
I thought of you waking to this deluge,
Unprotected but by fortitude and willing.
Warming up with a taste of blended whiskey.
Oh, I thought of you.
All of life is sacred,
each and every one.
Grey-green hillsides in my eyes
greet the straining Solstice sun.
Half-light.
Out of darkness comes
half-light.
We are dawning.
I pulled your face up in my mind
As a chill walked down my back and settled in me.
I saw you struggle under water-mist street light,
Searching for some overhang.
I thought of you in taped-up shoes
Bare protection, no loving arms to warm you.
Snuggled down in my bed with my companion I
Oh, I thought of you.
All of life is sacred,
each and every one.
Grey-green hillsides in my eyes
greet the straining Solstice sun.
Half-light.
Out of darkness comes
half-light.
We are dawning.

Charge and Covenant

|

Charge and Covenant
Chorus:
Open up, open up, open up to me
Open up, open up, open up to me.
I am in the greening land
I am in the stars that wheel
I have been with you from
The beginning of all time
I have been among you from
The ending of all time.
Be free within yourselves
And never enslave others
Whenever you have need of me
I will always be there
When you need each other
Look and you will find me there.
I am in the subtle earth
In the overarching universe
In between the particles
You will find me dancing
In the space of nothingness
You can hear me sing.
If you do search to know
The endlessness of mystery
By seeking it outside yourself
You will never find me
Your seeking lies inside you
Plummet down, dive deeply.
Loving is the only law
Love each other fiercely
Know that when the moon is full
Sanctity is shining
Sacrifices make you none
Except to love more freely.
Rise up now and come to me
I give life to all things
Remember every living thing
Proceeds from my bounty
Remember every dying one
Winds back home to me.
I am in the subtle earth
In the overarching universe
In between the particles
You will find me dancing
In the space of nothingness
You can hear me sing...

Lugh's Song Lugh's Song (T. Thorn Coyle)
Lugh strike Your spear
In a shaft of sunlight.
You, the lover, come to the feast.
Lugh strike Your spear
In a shaft of sunlight
We heed Your knocking, we open the door.
chorus:
Spiral outward,
Burning in brightness.
Strong and True,
striding o'er the Earth.
Spiral downward,
Burn into darkness.
Death to sleep
in the tomb of birth.
Lugh strike your spear
in a shaft of sunlight
you who carry the gifts of all.
Lugh strike Your spear
in a shaft of sunlight.
Radiant beauty, sit by our hearth.
Lugh strike Your spear
In a shaft of sunlight.
Dying One, let go, let go.
Lugh strike Your spear
In a shaft of sunlight,
Lead us into slumber.
Lugh strike Your spear
In a shaft of sunlight.
Summer passes, away, away.
Lugh strike Your spear
In a shaft of sunlight
Show us the crossing, carry us home.
Lugh strike Your spear
In a shaft of sunlight.
You, the lover, come to the feast.
Lugh strike Your spear
In a shaft of sunlight
We heed Your knocking, we open the door.
chorus:
Spiral outward,
Burning in brightness.
Strong and True,
striding o'er the Earth.
Spiral downward,
Burn into darkness.
Death to sleep
in the tomb of birth.
Lugh strike your spear
in a shaft of sunlight
you who carry the gifts of all.
Lugh strike Your spear
in a shaft of sunlight.
Radiant beauty, sit by our hearth.
Lugh strike Your spear
In a shaft of sunlight.
Dying One, let go, let go.
Lugh strike Your spear
In a shaft of sunlight,
Lead us into slumber.
Lugh strike Your spear
In a shaft of sunlight.

Lugh strike Your spear
In a shaft of sunlight
Show us the crossing, carry us home.

A Fool
05:17
|

A Fool
The birds came from all over
to greet the early light.
I was with them, flying on an updraft into blue.
A winged convocation, though the bats left in the
dawning
and I knew, and I knew.
That God is in the ocean and God is in the air.
That She lives in the fiery sun, the stars.
That God talks into willing ears unplugged
from culture's crass embrace.
And beauty is created. Beauty dwells.
The anointed one is waiting on the shore.
The anointed one is waiting on the shore.
I was rocking on the rooftops
and singing to the sun
as the colors came into me, I was shining bright.
The swallow, he swooped over me, arms upraised I
praised Her
and I knew, and I knew.
Believing is to dying what living is to love.
That hope steps off of cliff tops and is saved.
That grace comes flying to me fearless
in the face of disbelief.
And beauty is created. Beauty dwells.
The anointed one is waiting on the shore.
The anointed one is waiting on the shore.
